The boys of MGMT have a new album coming out this year called Congratulations, which is their follow-up to 2008's hit record Oracular Spectacular. We want to personally congrat the fellas on making at least one great track called "Flash Delirium" because we all know that this sophomore record is going to be scrutinized on a similar level to the Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Interpol, etc. etc.. etc...
As you would guess by its name, "Flash Delirium" is a bouncy and spacey Bowie-esque track, which is hopefully a strong example of what is to come from MGMT. We all know that they can write great songs, as we saw with their buzz tracks that were dropped before their debut was shelved (Electric Feel, Weekend Wars, Time To Pretend, Kids).. but it is refreshing to hear a track that contains uncharted styles from a band that could have easily boxed themselves into a nice and safe but always freaky corner.
