It was reported a week or two ago that one of the contemporary leaders of punk/garage rock had been found dead in his Memphis home at the budding age of 29. Many artists in all walks of medium have spoken out with their feelings about Jay's untimely death and we feel that this news should mark greenTYPEWRITERS first post in 2010 by giving light to the most shocking news that we have witnessed in the vain of arts and literature this year.
We had heard rumblings about Jay Reatard a few years ago around the time that he was with the Lost Sounds and just before he released his incredible debut solo-album entitled "Blood Visions" in 2007. Jay's meandering discography, starting in the late 90's with the Reatards and carrying on right up until his death, is a incredibly underrated body of work that represents his driving musical talent and incredible passion.

Update: News was released that Jay Reatard's death was due to an overuse of cocaine and alcohol. What a waste..
